Here are what I believe to be the Top 10 Movies of all time!

#1... Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)

RaidersIt goes without saying that the best movie of all time is Raiders of the Lost Ark!

Harrison Ford brings Indiana Jones to the screen as an adventurous bad ass with enough grit and wit to keep you on edge.

Every kid wanted to be Indiana Jones, suddenly became interested in history and folklore, and craving the mysterious!

I even went so far as to get the exact fedora that Indiana Jones wore from my uncle Frank who worked with the Smithsonian, as well as his entire outfit.

Always a good watch no matter how many times you’ve seen it.

#2... Star Wars (1977)

star warsBeing the first movie I had seen in a theater, Star Wars didn’t disappoint. Mesmerized by the special effects of the time and adventure into space, I must of walked down to our local theater and watched over 20 times.

I even had the movie on LP and listened to it so many times it warped the record but I had memorized every laser blaster shot and light saber clash in the movie.

What’s worse, I’m in my 40’s and can still go right along the movie with sound effects and dialog.

I mean seriously! What kid didn’t dream of being Luke Skywalker or Han Solo? Not a single one. If only I’d saved all my memorabilia, I’d be able to retire now.

3...The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

Star-wars-empire-strikes-back-posterIt isn’t hard to say that my love for the Star Wars trilogy continued with The Empire Strikes Back. Despite having to wait 3 years for the sequel to hit theaters, it was worth the wait.

Darth Vader provided us with a far more sinister villain than any horror movie could give us at the time.

4...Return of the Jedi (1983)

ReturnOfTheJediPoster1983Of course my top 5 wouldn’t be complete without Revenge (um) Return of the Jedi.

The last of the trilogy didn’t disappoint revealing major plot twists and great scenes that left you at the edge of your seat.

The emperor finally becomes a part of the story as well as Darth Vader’s vulnerability. Lucas gave us a great taste of the power of the dark side (or at least their tricks). I mean, lightning from the fingertips? how cool!

Tie fighter and X-wing clashes that left your head spinning at the action; Land speeders that left everyone saying “I gotta get one of those”; and of course the Millennium Falcon and Han Solo who quickly became the best character in the whole trilogy.

5...The Temple of Doom (1984)

mainHave you ever experienced a movie that was more like a concert? Then you needed to have seen the Temple of Doom at the Lyric theater in Blacksburg, VA on opening night.

A 3 year wait was hard enough but was soon forgotten as the opening scene finished and you saw a suave Jones in a tuxedo come out from behind the plan curtains dressed like Indiana Jones and put on his fedora.

We were in the balcony of the theater but it didn’t matter, the ENTIRE theater stood to their feet cheering for Indiana Jones.

By far the best movie experience ever and a great sequel to Raiders of the Lost Ark. It have just enough sarcasm to make you laugh and 1 rare curse word to seal the deal!
