I would not recommend this travel spot to anyone. We did meet some others in the area that had a much better experience than us and, according to them, it depended on the resort you stayed at. The grounds were very nice as well as the room. You can’t disparage beach side beds with canopies to lounge on.
However, the food was absolutely horrible as was most of the other guests. This is apparently a preferred travel spot for the French and Russian tourists. Most of them incredibly rude and having no concept of “personal space”. We greatly enjoyed our morning, afternoon, and evenings listening to a neighbor facetime his family back in Russia and talk so loud that they could probably hear him in Cuba.
Wanting to mainly relax, as most vacations should be, we did eventually grab a cab to a local mall and found a Hard Rock Cafe. (You would of thought we were rescued off a deserted island and given a cheeseburger!) That by far was the best meal of the trip!
Our little slice of beach was guarded on each side by armed security which certainly instilled confidence in our choice of resorts. They would not let us out of the grounds but also did keep out the panhandlers from pestering guests.
Bottom Line: Find somewhere else to go!!!
